Lots of excitement here at Crystal Towers today.....I received the Offical Jane McDonald Concert Programme for 2011 in which Crystal Angels Jewellery Designs has a whole page feature! Not only that, but I am also featured in the credits which reads, " Jewellery for Jane McDonald by Debbie James " I am very proud!

Working hard at the moment on a few new collections and lots of new ideas. I wish I had the time to keep up with my ideas!

Coming soon, I will be doing a blog giveaway, and the prize is a fabulous pair of Gaia stone and sterling silver earrings, they are amazing! A very rich emerald green colour.

A little teaser for those on a spiritual path.....I have, after a very long search and much negotiating, located some VERY special beads. I will be making a limited quantity of spiritual jewellery with these beads as they are very powerful. Not telling you what they are yet, you will have to keep checking back here to find out!!

WOW!!!! I don't know if it is the lovely sunny weather, but I have been feeling very inspired of late. I have had tons of ideas for new jewellery collections, and have been busy sketching, designing and making pretty much non stop! I have been working on 2 new collections, one is a collection of bracelets, as I don't feel I have made enough of these, tending to concentrate on necklaces and a few earrings. The bracelets will all have the wow factor, statement pieces to be worn with style! The other collection is a collection of necklaces all featuring a generous sprinkling of sparkly crystals, hearts, flowers, or a gorgeous focal pendant. These are in a range of lovely bright colours, perfect for the coming season. If you follow me on facebook, you will know that I have struggled with a name for this collection, but I have finally narrowed it down to 2 possibles........but I'm not revealing them yet!

Coming soon from Crystal Angels Jewellery, Friendship Bracelets! I have had lots of requests for some jewellery that would make a good gift, so after giving it lots of thought, I decided that the answer was a range of simple friendship bracelets, perfect for giving as a gift, or as a treat for yourself.

Launching the range there are 3 bracelets, Green Aventurine, Rose Quartz and Aqua Jade. The bracelets are a mix of semi precious stones, Swarovski crystals and faceted crystals, they are all one size, so no need to worry about measurements, and they are of course, gift wrapped. Each one is beaded in a completely different pattern so no 2 will ever be exactly the same. I do have plans to add more selection to this range in time, but the initial 3 colours are all very fresh and pretty. Each bracelet also has 2 sterling silver heart charms!

I am hoping to launch these in the next few days, so if you are still stuck for a Mothers Day gift, this may be the answer for you!

Buying Jewellery As A Gift

When you are considering buying jewellery as a gift, much depends on the type of person the recipient is. If it is someone you know well, then the chances are you will know their preferred colours, styles etc, so you may find it quite easy to select a piece of jewellery for them.

However, if you are unsure of what the recipient would really like, it is probably best to select something that is quite simple in design in a more neutral and muted colour such as the paler greens, soft pinks or smokey grey, which includes gemstones such as Rose Quartz, Smokey Quartz, Jade, Prehnite and Quartz crystal. Although purple is quite a strong colour, most people do like Amethyst, so this too would be a good choice.

Keep to fairly simple, uncomplicated designs, as the more complex designs can be a matter of personal preference, not suited to everyone.

Generally speaking, necklaces tend to be fairly standard sizes, although if you are choosing jewellery for a fuller figured lady, you will need to take into account the finished piece of the necklace and will need to allow for a longer length. A standard necklace size is usually around 18 inches.

When choosing a bracelet, if the design fastens with any sort of clasp, you will need to have a reasonable idea of the recipients wrist size, or ensure that the bracelet is fitted with an extender chain, allowing it to fit larger sizes. The average bracelet size tends to be 7 1/2 - 8 inches. Another option is to choose a design that is made from jewellers elastic, allowing it to stretch onto the wrist and fitting quite a range of sizes. Another popular option is memory wire, which coils around the wrist. This is also a better option if your recipient has any sort of dexterity problems as there are no clasps to worry about.

When choosing earrings, it is always a better option to choose earwires that are made of sterling silver, as opposed to plated metals. The design is very much down to personal preference, but if you are unsure, it is better to play safe and choose a relatively simple design, rather than large, fussy designs. I would highly recommend something like a pair of Swarovski crystal heart earrings if you are at all unsure, these have good all round appeal and what lady doesn't like sparkle?

Make sure you choose a gift wrap option if not wrapping the jewellery yourself, it gives a lovely finishing touch and makes the recipient feel pampered and special, like you have really taken care over the gift.

I have finally decided on a name for my new collection. Announcing the forthcoming arrival of......Deco Follies. I am really exited about this collection, it is slightly different from my signature style of bold, chinky statement pieces. These designs are feminine, beautiful and elegent and I have used some fabulous faceted semi precious stones including Amethyst, Citrine and Rose Quartz.

The collection was inspired by the Art Deco era, and while the designs are not overtly Deco in design, I feel they represent the feel of the 1920's and 30's, when life was gentle, simple and quietly sophisticated. Think of the tinkling of china under the soft lights of the ritz tearoom, or lemonade on a sunny lawn, with elegent ladies wearing beautiful tea dresses and looking gorgeous. I have named each of the pieces after a popular ladies name of the era and the collection includes delights such as the Lola necklace and Florence bracelet.

Over the next few days I will gradually be putting the collection ont my website, so I hope you will stop by and take a look.

Serious lack of blogging of late, I will put this right! I have been really busy designing and creating some gorgeous new jewellery, slightly different from my signature style. The new collection is understated elegance, very feminine and in lovely pastel shades. I have been working with some new gems, lovely faceted rondelles, and I am thrilled with the result. There is a slight ethereal feel to this collection and I am thinking of calling it the Faerie Collection. It reminds me of the sort of jewellery that would be worn by the Deva kingdom, as they flit around the woodlands!

I have also got some stunning new beads this week, they are rare green Kyanite. They are a beautiful apple green and have an inner twinkle. Pics will be posted soon.

I have been incredibly busy lately with custom designs, as well as planning a forthcoming collection. I have a collection planned of really striking statement pieces, I have started doing the sketches and mood boards, I am hoping I can get to work on the designs within the next month or so.

I am also opening a new website, where I will be selling healing crystals and simple healing jewellery such as quartz pendants, tumblestones etc. Crystals are my passion, so I am looking forward to this new venture. Once this is up and running, I can hopefully get back into the studio to work on my jewellery designs!

Jane Mcdonald was on the Alan Titchmarsh show tonight in ITV, wearing a faceted purple Agate necklace created by me! It is incredibly exciting to see something you have made appearing on TV!!

There has been no blogging for a while, as I have been recovering from a tooth infection, very painful! The said tooth has now been removed and all is well, I am able to eat sweeties once more.

I have bought a wild bird feeding station and have put it outside my window where I can see it while I am working at my computer. Its fabulous, but I am getting very little work done as I am spending all my time watching the birds feeding! At the time of writing this blog entry, there are 11 blue tits having a good feed. It is supposedly a squirrel proof one, but I know how wily those squirrels are, so they have their own feeding place under a tree at the front of my house, where they can much thier way through the monkey nuts I put out each day. Honestly, these creatures eat better than I do!!

I do think it is important to help our wildlife as much as possible, after all, it is humans that cause most of their problems,destroying their habitats etc. Even if you can do a little bit to help wildlife, this helps to redress the balance.

I am totally loving these fab new crystals I have sourced. As someone who works a lot with Swarovski crystals, I can recognise quality when I see it. As beautiful as Swarovski crystals are, they are also quite pricey, which can mean that not everyone is able to afford Swarovski items, so I was really thrilled when i found these alternative crystals now available. They are AAA grade, superior quality cut glass faceted crystal with a wonderful sparkle. I have been using them for some time now, giving ghtem a test run so to speak, and I am extremely pleased with the results. I have tried combining them with gemstones, pearls, and Swarovski and every time they look amazing. I have been so inspired by them, that I am creating a whole new range of crystal products, that I will be launching shortly, so watch this space!

Hot Hot Hot!!!

Wow, isn't it hot!! Lovely in the day but much too hot to sleep comfortably! Apart from the hot weather, I had a very disturbed night last night, this is what happened............

12.30 am and I was still tossing and turning, windows wide open, I heard a very strange shuffling noise outside. I live in a rural area, so I am used to the noises of the countyside and wildlife, but this was most peculiar, so I got out of bed to have a peek out of the window. The sight that greeted me was 25 huge milking cows pottering in the street, on the gardens, everywhere! As I live in between 2 farms, I knew that they had got out of one of the nearby fields! I quickly got dressed ( didnt want to scare the cows in my PJ'S!) and alerted one of the farmers, who along with his partner in her nightie, the other farmer, me and my partner, rounded up the heard ( not easy in the pitch dark!) and returned them to their field, non the worse for their night time adventure! After a well deserved cup of tea, I got back to bed eventually, but what a night!!

Like most of the country, I have been gripped by England fever! I don't usually follow football as a rule, but I am very patriotic and do like to support the England team. I have made some fabulous crystal 'England' jewellery, I shall be proudly wearing some throughout the World Cup!

The jewellry has been created with Quartz crystal, and AAA grade faceted crystals. I have been working a lot recently with these fabulous crystals and will be launching a special crystal collection.

Helping the animals.

I recently created some Swarovski crystal jewellery that I donated to ABC animal Santuary to help them raise funds at their open weekend. ABC Animal santuary is owned by the actress Alexandra Bastedo, who you may know best from that fab classic, The Champions. I am pleased to say that they have managed to raise some much needed funds. .......its a Secret! Secret Garden that is, as that is the name of my new collection of bracelets shortly to be launched on my site. Its a small collection of fabulous, funky, fun, floral beauties, perfect for holiday time, or just simply to make you feel good! The bracelets are all stretchy, so no need to worry about sizing, perfect if you want to give one as a gift. On the point of brightly coloured jewellery, I really believe this is for all year round, not just for the warmer months. I don't subscribe to the idea that summer is for bright colours and winter is for dark colours. After all, what could be better in the depths of winter than a splash of colour to remind you of warmer times and to lift your spirits!

I have been working with mostly Spring and Summer colours recently, with the launch of my Awakenings collection, so when I got this collection of creamy gold and bronze beads out of my studio, I was instantly drawn to create something beautiful with these fab warm colours, which are a complete change from the pastels I have been working with. The gemstones in the centre are Merlinite, and this particular batch has beautiful golden inclusions which give it a warm appearance. As soon as I have created a necklace with this selection, I will post a picture here!

I have been working very hard recently on my new collection for Spring/Summer. It is full of lovely summery colours and has a slightly romantic feel to it, featuring a wide range of semi precious stones, stunning faceted crystals and gorgeous pearls! Orange is a fabulous colour for giving you energy and lifting your spirits, but is also one of the most difficult colours to wear! Orange clothing can make you look washed out, but a great way to be able to wear this colour is by using it in your accessories. Orange jewellery combines surprisingly well with a lot of colours. Try it with minty green, soft caramel, or for a real holiday feel, combine it with pink! Whatever you pair it with, it will fit in wonderfully well with your summer wardrobe.

I know I am always going on about the colours of nature, but just look at this! How can you not be inspired by such vibrant colours? Just looking at it fills me with energy and makes me feel good! The daffodils have inspired me to create some orange jewellery, and although Orange is a difficult colour for a lot of people to wear, you can easily use your accessories to inject a burst of this zesty colour into your wardrobe.

I have never grown out of the excitement of seeing a Rainbow! I loved them as a child and love them still, what is it about them that is so magical? The colours are stunning, no one can do colour like Mother Nature. The is a picture of a stunning Rainbow I saw yesterday, really magical.

I am very excited about 3 new collections I am working on, I don't want to give too much away just yet, but one is the Hippie Chic collection, one is as yet un named but the theme is tranquility, and the third is a charity collection I have been working on, I have called this collection AngelHeart. Fortunately I had my camera with me and the owl sat there very patiently while I took some pictures. It is a Little Owl, who hunt by day, and you can just about see him right in the centre of the photo.

One of my absolute favourite components when making jewellery just has to be Swarovski crystals. The fabulous Austrian crystals give the most amazing sparkle and just a few can add glitz to any piece of jewellery.

They work wonderfully well with gemstones, the natural beauty of semi precious stones somehow seems to be enhanced with Swarovski. Of course, you can add more if you really want to bling a piece up, but often all that is needed are a few.

Swarovski crystals come in the most dazzling array of colours, with new colours added to the palette every season. One of the most popular is Crystal AB, this is clear crystal coated with Aurora Borealis, which gives a rainbow of shimmers.

Swarovski crystals come in an assortment of sizes and shapes, from the tiniest 2mm bead, to the huge crystal pendants, as well as Butterflies, Flowers, Angel wings and much more.

Although I have never been to visit the Swarovski HQ myself, I have read a great deal about it and by all accounts it is a magical place to visit. Oh well....maybe one day!

One of the colour trends for this year is the lovely Aqua. This is one of my favourite colours, it always looks fresh and it goes with a surprising amount of colours. One of my favourite combo's is lime green and aqua, it lifts the spirit and can transform a simple outfit such as jeans and a t- shirt into a smart and chic look. It is also a great colour to combine with pinks and oranges, and although this might sound a little too much, it's a great look especially for the holiday season. Aqua can also be toned down a little by combining it with natural colours such as oyster, bronze and browns. With a nice piece of Aqua jewellery, you can transform many of the outfits in your current wardrobe.

Colours for Autumn

I have been looking around shops and magazines for up and coming Autumnal colours, and as usual, the forecasts are wide and varied! No two fashion magazines seem to agree on what will be popular! My own personal forcast is that soft muted tones will be popular, Dusky pink, mid - blues, marroons, tawny browns and burnt orange. I have some wonderful gemstones to tie in with these fab colours, some wonderful pink and blue Agates, Rose cherry Garnet, and some lovely fire Agate. I have been busy this week making some new stretchy bracelets, I have until now, been unable to find a strong stretchy elastic of a high enough quality, so I really pleased with the new designs. These will be available on the website soon.

I have put lots of new information on the website about the chakra system. All illness and imbalance begins in the auric field, leading to chakra damage, which will ultimately lead to illness. By correcting any chakra imbalances with the appropriate crystals, many ailments can be rectified, and health and harmony can be restored.

I have just returned from a Bead show, where I purchased lots of lovely new fab beads, can't wait to get creating with them!

I have recently come across a beautiful new stone, Green Moss Quartz. Its colour is the most incredible blue - green and no 2 I have seen are the exact same shade and markings. Green Moss Quartz ( not to be confused with Green Moss Agate ) reminds me a little of Aquamarine, with the colours being much more vibrant, rather than the more subtle shades of Aquamarine. As with all new crystals, I work with their energies for a while to find out a little more about them and their vibration. GMQ has a lovely gentle energy, that is also very positive and strong. This will be a stone to sustain and nourish, encouraging spiritual growth and balance. The energy feels a little like a bracing blast of fresh sea air, which is appropriate given the colour is similar to crashing waves and frothy sea foam. this weekend I will be making some jewellery with these fantastic beads, which will be on the site early next week.

Although I do admit to Pink being my absolute favourite colour, I have been very drawn to Pink stones of late. I love working in particular with Rose quartz and Pink Opal, I love their pure and gentle energies. Many people associate soft pastel colours such as this with the summer months, but in my opinion, Pink is perfect all year round, a wonderful soft colour to lighten up your energy in the dark winter months.

There has been no blogs for a while due to faily circumstances, but now I am back to the blogging! I have got lots of delicious new beadies ready and waiting to make some new creations. I have some stunning Electric Spar Calcite in lots of vibrant summer colours, ( Pictured is the Cerise ) and some Chrysocolla Howlite which is a beautiful green. I am going to start work this week on my new range of childrens jewellery and also jewellery for men. I am also working on some new designs using new crystals that I have, including Prehnite, Merlinite, Dalmation Stone and some stunning pink coral, which is perfect for summer!

A very unusual stone!

This stone is usually marketed as Kiwi Jasper or even Sesame Jasper, and it is a stone that I find very beautiful It has unusual clear pockets encapsulated within and has the most amazing energy. I have asked around a few knowledgeable crystal people and it has ben suggested that this could be a lower grade Larimar with Mica and Quartz inclusions. It is well known within the gemstone industry that any unidentified stone is labelled as a jasper, so who knows! Whatever its true origins, its really lovely and I look forward to making some very special jewellery with these beads.

I have managed to get some stunning Strawberry Quartz beads! Much of what is available as Strawberry Quartz is actually Cherry Quartz, which is a dyed glass. Genuine Strawberry Quartz is the colour of crushed strawberries and is really beautiful with a wonderful energy. It is said that you will not discover Strawberry Quartz until you are ready to work with its energies. It is also an excellent stone for past life insights. I am looking forward to creating some magical pieces of jewellery this weekend with my new goodies!

I have just listed some new necklaces on my website http://www.crystalangels.biz/ At the moment I particularly love Chrysocolla, its vibrant green - blue colour is very energising. Another of my current favourites is Charoite, which is a beautiful purple colour with black inclusions. Charoite is associated with the sign of Scorpio, which is my sign, so that probably explains my love for it!

I am supporting a charity through my website, and £1 from each web sale will go to my chosen charity which is currently The Lancashire Hedgehog Care Trust. Hello and welcome to my Blog. My name is Debbie and I am a jewellery designer. I design and create jewellery using semi precious stones and Swarovski crystals. My designs are exclusive and are created intuitively, so no two pieces are ever the same. I am a Reiki Master and also have diplomas in Holistic Healing, Intuitive Healing, Holistic animal Healing and Crystal Healing. All beads used in my designs have been personally hand selected by myself and I only work with gemstones with the highest and purest energy.

In my blog I will share my designs and sources of inspiration with you as well as giving you sneaky peaks at new designs and featuring specific gemstones and their healing properties.
